At the core of this project is a circa 1880s shotgun cottage that had fallen into severe disrepair. Substandard modern additions were removed, and 865 SF of new construction was added to create an open plan kitchen/dining/den area with screened porch at the rear and a new side entrance and study with sweeping views of Bayou St. John. The front porch was rebuilt with historically appropriate architectural details. Custom wood doors and windows were designed for the additions; original heart pine flooring was salvaged and reinstalled over a new subfloor.
The project was recognized by Louisiana Landmarks Society with a 2026 Award for Excellence in Historic Preservation.
