Metairie, Louisiana
2023-2024
The scope of work included site planning, design and construction drawings for a detached studio, pool and an open-air pavilion on a 1/3 acre tract behind the client’s home in Old Metairie.
The 600 SF pavilion for outdoor entertaining is elevated on cylindrical poured in place concrete piers; features a broad hipped roof with deep eaves, wrapped by a pergola constructed of galvanized steel posts and beams with treated timber purlins. Custom pivoting shutters on the north and east sides can be manipulated to provide varying degrees of privacy and wind protection.
The 975 SF studio anchors one end of the linear tract, providing two spaces for working or sleeping, with a full bath and deep entrance porch under a modified pyramidal roof. The floor plan is inspired by vernacular “saddle-bag” homes.
